April 25, 2010. Humans on Earth use the Internet to self-organize, improving how we choose our leaders, make decisions and support public projects.

Emperorcontest.com phase 1 finds leaders to address global issues, from the urgent to the ultra long term, developing a flexible, ever-changing chain of influence through open competition and choice. During phase 1, the website does not automate entering the contest or signing up as a slave, allowing us to manually figure out the processes involved, including rankings and analysis of results. Processes are shaped for simplicity and compatibility with paper mail. A paper and ink book of contest entries is produced and gift-distribution begins coinciding with the launch of phase 2.

Emperorcontest.com phase 2 introduces automation which allows each website visitor to choose and change their choices for Earth emperors through the website, deciding exactly who will be their upward links (emperors) and changing them at will, creating a voluntary global government hierarchy with up to 8 billion participants that grows from the bottom up as each individual chooses upward links. The group of leaders that emerge with the most influence at any given time will be an ever changing group, convincing others to follow them on an ongoing basis.

Emperorcontest.com phase 3 offers a consulting service to start and manage continous emperor contests inside any organization. The security strategy is for the website to maintain a complete public history of all activity and to be hosted in several different data centers for site redundancy and tamper detection and correction. Priority point systems are automated for managing slaves. The project creates many leadership opportunities, promoting leader development all over the planet. With a greatly improved leadership and communication structure, "the people" use their upward links to set the agenda for public discussions and action, not the entrenched government parties and news media.

INTERNAL CONTEST

October 9, 2009. Emperorcontest.com is a global project to find leaders for the human race on Earth. Because these top leaders will probably not know very much about how the Internet works or how to best design an information system for automating leader contests, we need an internal contest. We can make make an example of how to voluntarily organize people inside a business as we go.
What would you do if you were the emperor of emperorcontest.com? Why should someone sign-up to be your slave (volunteer)? To enter this contest, email your entry to nate88johnson@yahoo.com and I'll put it on this page. If you want to volunteer without entering our internal leader contest, choose an emperor from the below entries, sign-up as their slave and ask them what to do.

N888 from the trees: April 25, 2010.

Maybe we should start with "if I was emperor of emperorcontest.com, I would start an internal continuous contest and give away all my power to those that attract the most voluntary support." As an example to inspire other entries, I would enter the contest myself and compete equally. My specialties as they apply to working on emperorcontest.com would be: strategy, research and process development. When excess resources are available for sharing with my slaves, including all kinds of money, my intent is to fill requests using a priority point system based on participation. I will require all of my slaves to provide me with their Wish List and Gift List and keep them updated. As far as particulars for the Earth contest phase 1, I would personally work to increase competition and diversity of ideas and leadership styles by searching for and recruiting people to enter the Earth contest. After the initial website is complete, I will refine my approach to publicity and advertising, as it is important to me to cast a very wide net looking for leaders. We need to run a contest in each language of the world.

Why should you choose to be my slave / work for me in this strange new business? I have experience with organizing volunteers, innovating with technology, analyzing and improving processes and specifying software functionality. I started learning PHP but decided I would need help to use PHP/MySQL for phase 2 and I see major issues with this approach. The MySQL databases are hosted remotely from the webserver and I doubt traffic is encrypted to avoid manipulation, so... and for a few other reasons, what about using flat files instead of a database? This seems like a strange approach, but I'm all for simplicity for more users to be able to understand, replicate and modify. Scripts would update HTML files, saving old versions each time there is a change. Smart data compression, maybe hardware-based, could then be applied across files to achieve similar results to saving only the changes. I have been keeping all the old versions of these hand-coded HTML pages by saving them manually to an incrementing number in hexidecimal, 1.HTM ... 9.HTM ... A.HTM ... F.HTM, 10.HTM, etc., so just type in your browser to see the history of a page. There is some interesting evolution of the writing in there as I revise and refine. To sign-up as my slave for implementing emperorcontest.com phase 2, come up with a few ideas for subprojects you could lead and email me at betterdifferent.com@gmail.com. Nate88
